OCPD IDENTIFY VICTIM OF FATAL COLLISION ON COASTAL HIGHWAY
On Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at approximately 1:18 p.m., a collision involving a bicycle and a motor vehicle took the life of 23-year-old Kristin Stormer of Hollidaysburg, PA. Stormer was crossing westbound Coastal Highway on a bicycle when she was struck by a commercial delivery truck driving southbound.
The initial investigation reveals that Stormer was in the crosswalk but was crossing against the traffic signal. The investigation is on-going, however, there are no charges pending against the driver at this time.
The Ocean City Police remind visitors and residents to be cautious on and around Coastal Highway. Pedestrians are urged to use the sidewalks and designated marked crosswalks. Citizens riding bicycles and/or scooters should ride in the bus lane and they must obey all traffic laws. This includes obeying all lane markings, stop signs and traffic signals.
